AIMS & OBJECTIVES
To provide manpower in the area of Animal Health and Production.
To produce extension staff capable of imparting to livestock farmers, the modern techniques of increased Animal Production
To produce men and women, knowledgeable in the field of Animal Production who would effectively utilize their training to establish and manage their own livestock farms to maximum advantage. Ultimately, the College aims primarily at producing job makers not job seekers.
To provide knowledge and skills essential for primary processing and preparation of livestock products
To produce technicians capable of carrying out routine preventive measure, meat inspection and follow up prescribed veterinary medical treatments.
The School of Animal Health and Husbandry (as it was then referred to) was founded on the 1st of April,1964 (by the defunct Western Region and USIAD) to meet the need to train Livestock Assistants (Certificate) in order to cope with the ever increasing demand for assistance in the practice of Veterinary profession. The School became an integral part of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (I.A.R & T) of the Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile Ife by the Western State Edic of 1970. more
INFO ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The college is strategically located at Kilometer 3,Abeokuta Road,Moor Plantation Apata in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of Oyo State,Nigeria. The College has produced graduands since inception. Many of such graduates are self employed while some are in government owned agencies. Some have proceeded further inacademics and have even become Professors..The College operates livestocks farm like Poultry,Cattle,Sheep, Goat and rabbit among other for student praticals purposes.. the College runs a Veterinary Clinics and diagnostic Laboratory for analyzing samples from sick animals. The College has crop of qualified and experienced staff. All the lecturers are at lest Masters Degree holders. they are making impact at National and international levels. An Electro Ejaculator functioning well was constructed by one of the Technologist in the College
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates seeking admission to the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology must obtain and complete the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms or obtain the College form and take the examination
For admission to all courses, candidates must satisfy the admission requirements of the NBTE. For some courses; additional School/Departmental requirements have to be satisfied
New Admissions will normally be made only in November/December every year
At the time of registration at this College, each candidate will be required to present the originals of
the certificates or any other acceptable evidence of the qualifications on the basis of which the offer of admission has been made.
If it is discovered at any time that a candidate does not possess any of the qualifications which he/she claims to have obtained, he/she will be expelled from the college.
Students shall, on admission pay to the college, all the fees prescribed by regulations
Establish and manage modern standard livestock farms and carry out associated production processes and become job makers and not job seekers.
Serve as extension worker to livestock farmers, the modern techniques of increased animal production aimed at increasing their production levels and levels and standards of living. more
